As the 22nd annual transportation safety banquets draw to a close, Martin would like to announce the drivers that have earned the distinction of being awarded a 5, 10, or 15 year watch. Martin Transport’s watch program awards a driver a gold watch when the driver has driven for 5 years with ZERO tickets and no preventable incident, injury or release. An additional watch with one diamond is given at 10 years, another watch with two diamonds at 15 years, and a watch with 3 diamonds at 20 years.

Martin Transport would also like to recognize the outstanding accomplishment of the men and women of the Hattiesburg Terminal for going two consecutive years and 79 DOT inspections with ZERO vehicle out of service violations. The Hattiesburg Shop was presented with a “Stubby” award and new “Attaboy” hats at their Annual Safety Banquet.

From January 31 through March 1, Martin Transport will host 18 safety banquets in recognition of the safety performance of its drivers and employees. Corporate Management, including Don Neumeyer, Johnnie Murry, and Anthony Blake, as well as Dispatchers and Safety Coordinators will travel to each banquet to distribute safety awards and show their appreciation to all Martin Transport, PEPCO, Martin LP Gas, and Mangum Oil & Gas employees for their dedication and commitment to safety.
- 165,282 loads delivered and 43.3 million miles were traveled by Martin Transport in 2008 with a DOT accident rate below 0.65.
- 121 drivers have gone 3 or more years with 0 incidents, including no tickets, preventable accidents or spills.
- 22 drivers will receive a gold watch for making it 5 consecutive years with 0 incidents
- Two Terminal Shops had 66 combined road side inspections with ZERO out of service violations found.
- Martin Transport had its second lowest injury rate since 1999.

On May 9, 2007 in Kingsport, TN Martin Transport was presented with Eastman's Supplier Excellence Award for providing Eastman with outstanding service - Service rating above 99%! Thanks to our drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and managers for your hard work!

Increases in Driver Pay in May! We will be increasing our driver line-haul pay by approximately $60,000 per month!!

Martin Transport will be receiving 68 new tank trailers between February 07 - June 07; General Chemical, Petroleum, Sulfur, Acid, and Asphalt trailers.

Beginning March 1, 2006 Martin Transport will provide Group Health and Dental Insurance coverage for all full-time company drivers at no cost to the employee.

Free Money! Martin Transport announces increases in employer matching contributions for employees participating in the company’s 401 K plan. Effective January 1, 2006 the company will match dollar for dollar the first 3% of contributions and 50 cents on the dollar for the next 2%. Your 401 K contributions are also on a pre tax basis! If you are not already participating in the 401 K plan, see your terminal manager for more information.

Truck Count update: Martin Transport now has 468 trucks, 202 of which are 2005 and 2006 models plus an additional 30 sleepers and 20 day cabs already on order for next year.

Martin Transport has received recognition from several customers for Martin’s quick response and significant contributions to the hurricane relief and recovery efforts. We would like to thank all our Martin employees that were involved in helping during and after Katrina and Rita.

Prior to the Thanksgiving Holidays, Martin Transport increased Driver Holiday Pay. Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving are two of Martin’s eight official holidays – Happy Thanksgiving!
